Sanjay S. Vyas graduated from St. Joseph's University in 1992 before enrolling at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received his D.O. from the School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his internship and residency at a joint program which consisted of St. Vincent's Hospital and Westview Hospital between the years of 1998 and 2000. Dr. Vyas was chief intern and chief resident at both these institutions during this time period.
Dr. Vyas is Board Certified in Family Practice and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, Indiana Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners. After finishing his residency, he went into private practice in 2001 for approximately six years. As of January 2007, he has joined a large specialty group in which he leads the Indiana Primary Care division consisting of physicians and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Vyas has been very active with two local hospital systems, which are named Community and St. Francis. He was the chairman of the Family Practice Department from 2003 through 2005. He has also been chairman of the ADHOC Committee from 2001 through 2002. In addition to the above, he also teaches physician assistants, nurse practitioners, interns, and residents through his office practice.
Dr. Vyas maintains a busy office on an outpatient basis. He has numerous other interests consisting of lectures and presentations to his fellow peers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, interns, and residents. He also has given numerous lectures for pharmaceutical corporations including Abbott, Aventis, Bayer, Elan, GSK, Novartis, Ortho-McNeil, Pfizer, and TAP pharmaceuticals. These lecture topics have been on allergies, asthma, bronchitis, erectile dysfunction, GERD, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders, pain management, pneumonia, and sinusitis.
Dr. Vyas is married. He and his wife, Dipti Vyas, who is a local pediatrician, have twin girls named Sapna and Sonya. He is very involved in his local community and church activities. Other interests include sports, hiking, traveling, and volunteering at local organizations.
