Rural Housing Scholarships

A generous grant by the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation will fund scholarships for six high school students.

Applications are now open for new scholarships for rural Arizona students to attend the annual eight-day Health Careers Institute (HCI) for high school students on Midwestern University's Glendale campus from June 20-29, 2024.

A grant provided by the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation will fund scholarships for six high-achieving, under-represented and/or low-income high school students (sophomore to senior as of April 1, 2024) in rural areas who have no other means to attend this hands-on program. The scholarship will provide housing, meals, and transportation for each student (as well as a parent if the student is under 18).

If you would like to apply, please see details about the Health Careers Institute program, and then take the following steps:

  1. Fill out the Google doc application
  2. Send a supplemental Word document answering the following questions:
    1. How far away from the MWU Glendale Campus do you live (driving distance)?
    2. How do you meet the need for this scholarship?
  3. Please send the supplemental questions by April 5.
