Members of the Class of 2022 from Midwestern University’s osteopathic and podiatric programs, as well as select students from pharmacy, optometry, veterinary medicine, and clinical psychology, participated in the annual nationwide graduate residency match which paired them with postdoctoral specialty programs.

Midwestern University Community Raises Funds to Support Cancer Research

Midwestern University students, faculty members, and community residents raised more than $42,000 to battle childhood cancer as part of an annual “St. Baldrick’s Shave for a Change” fundraiser held at Ballydoyle Irish Pub in downtown Downers Grove in March. Students from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) organized the event where 35 people had their heads shaved in solidarity with children who are experiencing the effects of cancer treatments.

Faculty at Midwestern University Contribute to Cancer Research

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed and there will be an estimated 609,360 cancer deaths this year in the United States. In light of these statistics, the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative has recently gained new interest and new goals are being set to cut or reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50 percent over the next 25 years and to improve the lives of people impacted by cancer. As a University committed to providing healthcare education and excellent care to the community, Midwestern University values the contributions our faculty and students make to the advancement of scientific knowledge through clinical research.

Students from the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove celebrated the beginning of their professional careers with a commencement ceremony on Thursday, March 3, 2022. A total of 126 students received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and will begin their professional pharmacy careers or participate in postgraduate residency programs.

Arizona Regional Brain Bee Returns In-Person at Midwestern University

On Wednesday, March 2nd, Midwestern University welcomed 28 of the state’s top high school students for the 23rd Annual Arizona Regional Brain Bee, an educational competition similar to a spelling bee that focuses on neuroscience. The 2022 Arizona Regional Brain Bee at Midwestern University was presented in partnership with the BHHS Legacy Foundation.
