Gabapentin and Pregabalin Study

Seeking research participants to study the effects of oral gabapentin and pregabalin on blood pressure and cortisol in dogs.

Vet visits can be stressful for dogs, which may lead to false diagnoses of hypertension. 

This study seeks to determine if gabapentin and pregabalin can mitigate this. 

Eligible participants are: 

  • Dogs between 1 and 10 years of age and >3 kg. (7 lbs.)
  • Healthy, as determined by a physical exam, bloodwork, and urinalysis (provided at no cost)
  • Not on any medications aside from monthly parasiticides 

Dogs determined to be healthy following screening will be scheduled for three follow-up visits at one-week intervals; no overnight stay required. Upon successful completion of data collection, owners will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
