College of Veterinary Medicine Hosts Successful PupStrut 5k Event

At Midwestern University, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Omega Tau Sigma fraternity prioritizes philanthropy. Every year, the group hosts the PupStrut 5k event to contribute to local animal charities in the community that provide aid to individuals in need. This year, 86 people and 41 dogs participated in the race. Afterwards, everyone celebrated with games, food, raffles, and a silent auction.

The money raised during this event was donated to two local animal organizations: Happy Hooves and SOUL. Happy Hooves takes in abandoned farm animals, and Omega Tau Sigma members regularly volunteer there to help keep the operation running smoothly. SOUL – Shelter for Outcasts, Unusuals, and the Lost – an Animal Rescue – is a local foster-based network founded by Dr. Danielle Wiggs (CVM’22). Many former and current CVM students reside on the staff, including Racheal Kreisler, V.M.D., M.S.C.E., DACVPM, Associate Professor, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Thanks to the generous donations and fundraising work done by Omega Tau Sigma, Happy Hooves and SOUL can continue to provide invaluable services for their communities.
