Midwestern University and the University of Iowa have established a new Admissions and Articulation Agreement designed to streamline educational pathways for qualified students pursuing graduate health sciences degrees.
Articulation agreements serve as vital academic bridges, creating clear, structured transitions between undergraduate studies and professional graduate programs. By eliminating unnecessary barriers and defining transparent admission benchmarks, these partnerships ensure top-tier student candidates can efficiently advance toward their professional goals.
Beginning with the incoming class matriculating in Fall 2027, the agreement offers guaranteed admission interviews for qualified University of Iowa applicants across Midwestern University’s degree programs in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, optometry, podiatric medicine, veterinary medicine, and various health sciences disciplines. Additionally, the agreement provides guaranteed acceptance into select graduate degree programs through Midwestern University’s College of Graduate Studies and the College of Health Sciences' Nurse Anesthesia Program for applicants who meet specified academic criteria.
"Midwestern University is proud to partner with the University of Iowa, an institution renowned for its rigorous academic standards and dedication to student excellence," said Y. Gloria Yueh, Ph.D., Provost, Midwestern University. "This agreement reflects our shared commitment to creating seamless pathways for high-achieving students as they prepare to become leaders in human and animal healthcare."
Under the terms of the agreement, applicants must complete required prerequisite coursework, maintain program-specific cumulative and science grade point averages, satisfy applicable standardized test requirements (such as the MCAT, OAT, or DAT), meet technical standards, and demonstrate relevant healthcare or shadowing experience prior to matriculation.
"The University of Iowa has long been recognized for excellence in the health sciences, and this partnership builds on that strength by creating additional opportunities for our students to pursue advanced professional education," said Kevin Kregel, Executive Vice President and Provost, University of Iowa. "By expanding pathways to graduate study, we're helping more students access high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for meaningful careers in healthcare."
The agreement encompasses programs across both Midwestern University campuses in Glendale, Arizona, and Downers Grove, Illinois. Eligible students interested in learning more about admission requirements and participating degree programs under this partnership are encouraged to visit Midwestern University’s Articulation Agreements page or the University of Iowa's Admissions Office.
