Midwestern University Honors Littlejohn Award Recipients

Cross-Campus faculty and staff recognized for outstanding contributions

During the annual Employee Recognition Event, four members of Midwestern University’s faculty and staff, two on the Downers Grove Campus and two on the Glendale Campus, were awarded the Littlejohn Award, Midwestern University’s highest honor, for exemplary service during their careers at the University. The recipients were Christopher Camaioni, B.A., Director of Campus Facilities, Stephen Palatinus, D.D.S., M.P.H., Associate Dean of the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois (CDMI), Shane Palmer, Director of Campus Facilities, and Steven Call, D.D.S., Associate Dean of the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona (CDMA).

Mr. Camaioni currently serves as the Director of Campus Facilities on the Downers Grove Campus. His journey at Midwestern University began in 2000, where he served in General Maintenance. He was promoted to Building Mechanic the same year. The next year, 2001, Mr. Camaioni was promoted again to Maintenance Supervisor. He held this position until 2012, when he was promoted again to Manager of Facility Services. In 2019, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Operations. In 2022, Mr. Camaioni was promoted to his current position. Mr. Camaioni holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Management from Eastern Illinois University.

Dr. Palatinus began his journey at Midwestern University in 2013 as an Assistant Professor, and in 2018 he also became Clinical Care Coordinator at the Midwestern University Dental Institute. In 2020, he was promoted to the Director of Clinical Faculty, and in 2022 Dr. Palatinus received another promotion to his current position as Associate Dean on the Downers Grove Campus.

Mr. Palmer currently serves as Director of Campus Facilities on the Glendale Campus. He started at Midwestern University as a Building Mechanic in 2000. In 2009, he was promoted to Sr. Building Mechanic. Mr. Palmer became the Lead Building Mechanic in 2016.  In 2021, he became the Manager of Maintenance and Engineering until 2022 when he began his current position.

Dr. Call started as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Care Coordinator in 2010 where he coordinated patient care at the Dental Institute in Glendale, AZ. In 2014, he served as the Director of Clinical Faculty and continued as Assistant Professor. In 2019, he was promoted to Associate Professor and continued as Director of Clinical Faculty.

The Littlejohn awards have been given out since 2000 by Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University. The awards are named after the Littlejohn brothers John Martin, James Buchanan, and David Littlejohn, who founded the first college of Midwestern University, the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM).
