Learn about Risk of Falling at Midwestern University Health Fair

September 15, 2022

Midwestern University’s interprofessional healthcare team is offering a free health fair for community members to highlight the importance of decreasing the risk of falling in adult populations on Friday, October 7, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Multispecialty Clinic, located at 3450 Lacey Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515. According to the National Council on Aging, falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries for older Americans. While falls can threaten older adults’ safety and independence, and generate significant costs, there are steps people can take to reduce their likelihood of falling.

I want to use all the tools and knowledge I acquire at Midwestern and use them to help local communities that are usually overlooked due to their socioeconomic status or racial background.

College of Dental Medicine-Illinois, 2024

I attended Midwestern University because I would be able to stay close to my family. I also chose Midwestern for the state-of-the-art clinic and resources that are available for us to use. The amazing faculty-to-student ratio was also enticing.

Diversity Equity & Inclusion

At Midwestern University, diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to our academic life, campus community, and clinical practice. We value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of each of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and patients. We strongly believe that a diverse and welcoming campus leads to innovation, creativity, collaboration, and understanding - values that are foundation aspects of healthcare education and patient care delivery. Diversity enriches the educational and employment experience for everyone and is a necessary part of excellence. We embrace open access to education and opportunity for everyone, and we are unequivocal in our support of underrepresented and historically marginalized groups. We also recognize that there is more work to be done. To ensure these ideals are upheld, we have established the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and have committed additional resources to further develop a fully inclusive community.
