Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit graduate university specializing in the health sciences, offering advanced degrees through 14 colleges across two campuses.

The Downers Grove, Illinois Campus: Located just 25 miles west of downtown Chicago, the 105-acre campus combines cutting-edge facilities with a peaceful, wooded environment, providing an ideal setting for students pursuing a variety of health science degrees.

The Glendale, Arizona Campus: Situated 15 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, this expansive 156-acre campus features state-of-the-art facilities in a tranquil scenic setting, offering healthcare students access to modern resources in proximity to a major metropolitan city.

Both campuses offer future doctors and healthcare professionals unlimited opportunities, providing access to clinical rotations, internships, and potential employers.

Economic Impact: The University had an economic impact of over $495.2 million on the DuPage County economy and supports an estimated 2,000 jobs.

Environmental Impact: Our 105-acre campus in Downers Grove, Illinois received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Chicago Wilderness Conservation and Native Landscaping Award for the restoration of 8.97 acres of wetlands and oak-hickory woods.

Community Service: Midwestern students and employees provide nearly 21,000 hours of community service each year by participating in a wide variety of outreach programs, health screenings, and health education programs throughout the state.

Healthcare Impact: Midwestern University is home to Arizona’s largest medical school and the state’s first veterinary college. As of September 2024, over 17,000 healthcare professionals have graduated from Midwestern’s programs, with 41% remaining in Arizona to practice, helping address critical shortages.

Economic Impact: The University has invested over $400 million in Glendale and has created over 900 campus-based jobs.

Community Service: Our faculty and students are actively engaged in community service through University sponsored events, alliances with healthcare organizations such as the American Diabetes Association, and work-study programs. Midwestern students and employees provide over 10,000 hours of community service annually through outreach programs, health screenings, and education.

Student Support

Academics: We provide a variety of support, study, and tutorial programs to help students manage their academic responsibilities.

Well-rounded individuals: Believing that well-rounded individuals make more caring healthcare professionals, we offer our students a variety of social, academic, and personal enrichment activities.

Financial Aid: The Financial Aid Office helps coordinate three types of resources: scholarships and grants, employment programs, and loans. The Office automatically mails a financial aid packet to accepted students who return a signed matriculation agreement and submit their initial deposit.

Commitment to One Health

Midwestern University is committed to the principles of One Health, which fosters interdisciplinary cooperation between various human and veterinary medical specialties to fight disease, improve research and knowledge, and provide more complete care for all patients. The University has introduced several key initiatives that encourage students and faculty from all programs to collaborate and share expertise in both medical education and practice.

State-of-the-art community healthcare provided by licensed faculty professionals and upper-level students in Glendale, AZ.

  • Companion Animal Clinic: comprehensive small animal care, including urgent care, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, surgery, dentistry, wellness, senior pet care, canine physical rehabilitation, neurology, and dialysis
  • Large Animal Clinic: large animal medicine and training
  • Diagnostic Pathology Center: necropsy and pathology services and training
  • Third- and fourth-year CVM students provide care with faculty supervision
