Future Forward: When I Grow Up, I Want to Be…
High school students from ASU West Valley Future Doctors Institute visit Midwestern University for a glimpse into healthcare education
Midwestern University’s Glendale campus was once again a proud sponsor of the ASU West Valley Camps Future Doctors Institute, a summer program for high school students with an interest in healthcare professions. Faculty and students from Midwestern’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, and College of Dental Medicine-Arizona traveled to the neighboring ASU West Campus on June 9 to lead workshops in canine CPR, osteopathic medicine hands-on training, and admissions interviewing and application writing. Later in the week on June 12, the high school students visited MWU’s campus for a series of additional hands-on workshops taught by more than 30 Midwestern students and faculty. The interactive day-long visit included suturing, ultrasound, and vital signs in the Clinical Skills & Simulation Center; tooth waxing in the Dental Sim Lab; and a visit to the anatomy lab; and a panel of current MWU students sharing their journeys and answering questions.
