College of Dental Medicine Arizona - Biomedical Sciences Admissions Agreement
This serves to record the understanding between the College of Dental Medicine-Arizona (CDMA) at Midwestern University (MWU) and the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Programs on the Glendale and Downers Grove campuses. CDMA agrees to reserve a minimum of 5 seats for qualified BMS applicants per admission year.
Eligibility Requirements
To guarantee a seat, applicants must meet the requirements set forth below:
- Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA and science GPA in undergraduate studies of 2.70 (on a 4.00 = A scale).
- Earn a score of 410, (19 on the previous scale) or higher in the Total Science and Academic Average Sections of the Dental Admission Test [DAT] within three years prior to anticipated matriculation at CDMA is preferred. Scores of 410, (19 on the previous scale) or higher are preferred in each individual science section.
- Meet all requirements and prerequisites set forth by MWU and CDMA as documented in the catalog, student handbook, and this Agreement, including but not limited to prerequisite courses, passage of a criminal background check, and meeting the technical standards.
- Apply for admission to CDMA through ADEA AADSAS. A verified AADSAS application must be received by November 15th.
- Provide a letter of support from a dentist or from a faculty member in the applicant's undergraduate or graduate program.
- Interview the summer prior to matriculation into the BMS program and be recommended for admission by the CDMA Admissions Committee.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of dental medicine and a sincere interest in a career in the field.
- Earn a BMS grade point average of 3.0 after completion of the first quarter of the BMS program.
- Complete the BMS program with a cumulative BMS grade point average of 3.40 with no failures or replacements of BMS courses.
If by April 15th of the annual admissions cycle, CDMA has not accepted at least 5 applicants from the pool of students currently in the BMS program, then CDMA may, at its discretion, offer the remaining seats for that cycle to other applicants. Reserved seats for the BMS students will be reviewed annually with a potential adjustment to the number of seats depending on the total applicant pool and the educational progress of students admitted under the Matriculation Agreement.
This Agreement may be discontinued for any reason provided that the written notice is given 12 months prior to such discontinuation and that students who have been accepted under this Agreement be permitted to complete their course of study.
This Agreement is intended for the benefit of the parties hereto only, and is not for the benefit of, nor may any provision hereof be enforced by, any other person or entity, including the student-applicant.
