Students in Midwestern University's Physical Therapy Program gain hands-on experience in a collaborative learning environment. A new matriculation agreement creates guaranteed admission opportunities for qualified Biomedical Sciences students on the Glendale and Downers Grove campuses.
Midwestern University has established new admissions matriculation agreements between the Biomedical Sciences Programs in the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) and the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) programs in the College of Health Sciences on both the Downers Grove, Illinois, and Glendale, Arizona, campuses. The agreements create enhanced pathways for qualified students pursuing careers in physical therapy.
Direct Path to PT Program
The agreement reflects a shared commitment by Midwestern University leaders to expand opportunities for well-prepared students while strengthening the future healthcare workforce.
"We’re excited to offer Biomedical Sciences students a direct pathway into the Physical Therapy program. This agreement provides talented students with a clear and supportive route to a rewarding career in healthcare while reflecting Midwestern University's commitment to collaboration and student success,” said Sarah Radtke, Ed.D., ATC, Dean, College of Health Sciences, Downers Grove.
"We know the caliber of students in our Biomedical Sciences programs and have confidence they can thrive in the rigorous curriculum of our Doctor of Physical Therapy programs," said Jared Chamberlain, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Glendale. "These pathways allow us to retain talented Midwestern students, prepare exceptional future physical therapists, and help meet the growing need for skilled clinicians in our communities."
Eligibility and Program Criteria
To qualify for guaranteed admission, students must successfully complete a Midwestern University Biomedical Sciences program and satisfy the academic standards, interview expectations, and admissions criteria established by the respective Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Specific eligibility requirements vary by campus.
"The Biomedical Sciences Programs provide a strong academic foundation through rigorous coursework and dedicated mentoring, preparing students for success in the Physical Therapy program and other healthcare professional programs," said Sandra E. Inouye, Ph.D., Professor and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. "We value the opportunity to partner with our colleagues in the College of Health Sciences to create new pathways for students pursuing careers in physical therapy."
The agreements also provide an opportunity for students to strengthen their academic preparation before entering a professional physical therapy program while creating additional pathways for qualified Midwestern University students to continue their education within the University.
