AZ Emergency Counseling Services

Counseling Overview

MWU provides licensed counselors on campus to help you successfully negotiate life's issues, both academic and personal.  Their mission is to provide services that facilitate the personal and professional growth and development of students, while fostering a healthy and caring University community.  We strive to support the academic, social, and emotional health of students and meet the needs of the healthcare community.

Our counselors will help you to set goals to do your best to manage your emotions, to function more efficiently, and to be successful. We believe you have the ability to be resilient and can help you to develop that resiliency.  Counseling is designed to provide support and insight regarding issues, concerns, and mental health needs of all students of Midwestern University.

While we may be able to accommodate walk-ins, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment. In addition, the Dean for Student Services maintains an open-door policy and is readily available to discuss your questions or problems about life on campus.

If you are in danger or thinking of hurting yourself or someone else, Midwestern University  provides counselors to meet with students experiencing a crisis on the same day.  If it is during regular business hours and the counselors are unavailable, please contact the Office of Student Services at 623-572-3210.  You can also contact the EMPACT Mobile Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention Center at 480-736-4952 for 24/7 Emergency Mental Health Crises, including suicidal ideation and suicide. Face-to-face services are provided by the EMPACT Mobile Crisis Intervention Team if immediate assistance is deemed necessary.
