Optometric Residencies

AZCOPT-Affiliated Residencies


An optometric residency is a post-graduate program which allows residents to enhance their clinical skills and expand their knowledge of optometry beyond entry-level practice.  The first formally accredited one-year optometric residency began in 1976 at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, there has been steady growth, primarily within the Department of Veterans Affairs during the early years, but also at the schools and colleges of optometry, the Public Health Service, the military and at private co-management centers.
The Arizona College of Optometry  (AZCOPT) residency programs are one year in duration and offer a salary in addition to other benefits. To learn more about AZCOPT-affiliated residencies, please click on the links listed below.
